There is perhaps nothing more essential in a woman’s closet than a pair of blue jeans. However, denim can come in all different shapes, sizes and colors. Finding the perfect pair of jeans is no easy feat, but what about combining various articles?
The denim-on-denim trend has been picking up lately on the runway and with modern street style. The craze allows for an incredible amount of possibilities. But where do you start? Here are some innovative and stylish ways to mix denims.
Try Light with Dark
If you’re looking to shake things up a bit, try combing light-wash denim with a darker wash. For instance, a pair of navy blue fitted jeans would pair great with a white blouse and light-wash jean jacket. This look is classic and casual. Or try a chambray shirt with a dark denim bottle. The contrast between the two colors is a timeless look.
Know Your Shape
Pulling off two shades comes down to the fit. No one knows your body more than you do. If you’re more busty, try a darker color for the top. On the other hand, girls with fuller legs and bottoms may love the slimming effect of navy jeans. The lighter wash denim will draw more attention, so choose your outfits based off which colors will flatter your figure the most.
Women’s skinny jeans are your best bet for bottoms, but it all comes down to balance. Any shape can work if it’s done right. Try to combine two pieces that are either masculine or feminine to embody that effortlessly chic look.
Stray From Anything Too Similar

Never underestimate the effect of a well-tailored piece of clothing. Not everyone’s body falls into a certain number range. Go the extra mile by getting your clothes fitted by a seamstress. Once you start wearing clothes that are tailored to your body, your confidence will be through the roof.

Don’t forget about white denim. When the weather gets warmer, swap your blue jeans out with a pristine pair of white jeans. White pairs with just about everything so you can be a little more adventurous with your shades and prints. Rock floral, plaid, tribal and many more. White denim is like a blank canvas. Paint away!
