Meet Ashro Woman of the Week, Arnita H. from Harpersville, AL

Arnita is a dynamic and stylish woman of faith who sings on her praise team at church, works full time with the elderly and disabled, and cares for her parents—all while writing her graduate degree dissertation and volunteering. How does she do it?

How do you spend your free time?
Reading, singing, spending time with family, friends, and my Sorority

Helping others
What is your best dish? Who do you make it for—and where do you typically serve it?
Corn casserole-holidays and work luncheons
What has been your greatest struggle…and your greatest (or latest) triumph?
Working on my dissertation while working full-time and caring for my elderly parents.
Who influenced you the most in your life. Why? And in what way?
My mother-she raised me and my elder sister. While helping raising my 1st cousin who we treat as a brother and adopted my cousin. She also care for my God sister as her on child. She was dedicated member in the church and work on many auxiliaries there . She also work on committees within our city. Work 38 yrs for the deaf and blind. She is a hard worker, god fearing woman who loves all people and shows it.
Do you volunteer or do charity work? Tell us about it!
Yes, voter’s registration as well as assist with the elderly.
Are you in a sorority? Or is anyone in your family in a sorority? If so, which one and what does it mean to you?
Yes, I am a active member of the Sorority- Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc
What do you love about fashion and style?
All fashion-I love to be different.
Has anyone in particular influenced your style?
My Aunt-she love to be flash and where things that no one else has.
What occasions/events do you dress up for? (for example-do you often dress up for church, cultural events, charity events, going out, etc.) And how often do you typically get dressed up?
Church, work, speaking engagements, Sorority functions.
How has your style evolved over time?
Older I get my style changes.
Do you wear hats? How often and what type of hat? Do you wear them to church? If so, be sure to share a pic of you in a hat with us!

Headwraps sometimes.

I haven’t worn wigs.

Yes I am. I live what I believe.
Do you attend church? What church do you go to and what do you love most about it?
Yes daily. Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Love hearing the word, singing on the praise team
How are you passing along your faith traditions onto your children/grandchildren?
The life I live.

Live the life you speak about.
What lessons has motherhood (or being a grandmother) taught you?
Put God first in your life and let him order your steps-I am a Aunt.
