๐โจ Celebrating Momentum, Community, and New Opportunities! โจ๐

Guest Post by Mary Wells, Founder of Lupus Support Group for Women of Color.
The Lupus Support Group for Women of Color (LSGFWOC) is still smiling from the incredible success of our 1st Annual Lupus Awareness Month Celebration held on May 30, 2026.

Through our partnership with the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness (FFBWW), we welcomed 71 attendees from several U.S. states as well as Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Lagos, Nigeria; Abuja, Nigeria; and Canada. Together, we shared education, encouragement, remembrance, laughter, sisterhood, and hope.

A special thank you goes to ASHRO for their generous donation of raffle prizes, which brought so much excitement and joy to our attendees. We are especially grateful for the entire ASHRO team for supporting our lupus warriors and helping make the event such a memorable experience.
And then something amazing happened…
Just three days after our event, I received an invitation to serve as a panel speaker at the upcoming Lupus In Black Conference in Bolton, England (just outside of Manchester) this July!
To be invited to share the work of LSGFWOC on an international stage so soon after our celebration feels like a tremendous blessing and a reflection of the incredible momentum that is building around our mission. What began as a small support group in Madison, Wisconsin has grown into a community connecting lupus warriors across the United States and around the world.
This moment belongs to all of usโour warriors, volunteers, partners, supporters, speakers, donors, and community champions who have believed in this work over the years.

Let’s celebrate the momentum. Let’s celebrate the connections being made across borders. Let’s celebrate the power of community.
The vision continues.
The story is still being written.
And we’re just getting started. ๐๐๐
