Attack Poverty: Creating Opportunities Through Partnership, Empowerment, and Community

Attack Poverty non-profit logo

At Ashro, we believe strong communities are built when people come together to support, encourage, and uplift one another. We are proud to support organizations that help individuals and families build brighter futures, and Attack Poverty is one of those organizations. Through intentional partnerships, community relationships, and meaningful programs, Attack Poverty works alongside neighborhoods to create opportunities and help people move toward lasting transformation.

Understanding the Impact of Poverty

Poverty is a complex challenge that extends beyond financial hardship. It can impact access to education, employment opportunities, safe housing, essential resources, and the support systems that help individuals and families thrive. Over time, these challenges can create barriers that are difficult to overcome without meaningful support and opportunity.

Attack Poverty recognizes that poverty can take many forms and that each community has its own unique needs and strengths. Their work focuses on addressing the deeper challenges that contribute to generational poverty by building relationships, investing in people, and creating pathways for growth. They believe lasting change happens when communities are empowered with the resources, support, and connections needed to create a stronger future.

Empowering Communities Through Partnership

Attack Poverty’s mission began with a desire to bring people together to serve communities through meaningful relationships. Founded in 2011, the organization grew from a local effort to understand and support communities facing significant challenges into a broader movement focused on community transformation.

Through their Friends Communities model, Attack Poverty partners with residents, churches, local organizations, leaders, and community members to create long term solutions. Rather than approaching communities with temporary assistance alone, they focus on walking alongside people, listening to their experiences, and working together to identify opportunities for growth.

Their programs support individuals and families through education initiatives, student support, literacy programs, adult development, job readiness training, and home repair efforts. By addressing both immediate needs and long-term opportunities, Attack Poverty helps create environments where people can build confidence, develop skills, and pursue greater stability.

Creating Lasting Change Through Relationships

What makes Attack Poverty’s work especially meaningful is their belief that transformation begins with relationships. They understand that communities are strengthened when people feel valued, supported, and connected to others who believe in their potential. By investing in individuals and community leadership, Attack Poverty helps create opportunities that extend beyond a single moment of support. Their work focuses on helping people build the tools, relationships, and confidence needed to overcome challenges and create lasting change
