Mt. Zion Baptist Church: Strengthening Communities Through Faith and Service

Zion Baptist Church, a longstanding pillar of the Madison, Wisconsin community dedicated to creating opportunities, meeting essential needs, and empowering individuals and families.
For more than a century, Mt. Zion Baptist Church has been a place of faith, fellowship, and community support. As the largest Black congregation in Madison, Mt. Zion has continued to extend its mission beyond the church walls by developing programs and resources that respond to the changing needs of the community.
Through its nonprofit organization, MTZ Charitable Organization, Inc., Mt. Zion provides services that uplift individuals across generations. From youth academic enrichment and mentorship programs to access to healthy food, mental health resources, financial assistance, and activities that support older adults, the organization works to create pathways for individuals and families to thrive.
Creating Opportunities for Every Generation
Mt. Zion’s commitment to community care is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to the support and resources needed to reach their full potential. Through a holistic approach, their programs address educational, emotional, physical, and financial needs while helping community members build a stronger future.
For young people, MTZ Charitable provides academic support, tutoring, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities that encourage personal growth and success. By offering guidance, encouragement, and additional learning resources, these programs help students develop confidence and the skills needed to achieve their goals.
Mt. Zion also recognizes the importance of supporting families and individuals through life’s challenges. Through programs such as their food pantry, behavioral health clinic, and additional services, the organization provides resources that promote stability, wellness, and hope for community members in need.
